At Strategic Planning Committee on 9th June 2023, as part of a discussion reviewing current progress on the development of a new Local Plan, I called for officers to present a detailed review of options available to the Council for deviating from the ‘standard method’ of determining the number of new houses required during the Local Plan period.

I was delighted that Committee unanimously supported my proposal, and will look forward to discussing officers’ recommendations with residents once these have been made available – including any impacts on expansion at Cranbrook, or for further development surrounding the main village of Whimple.
