As part of my responsibilities as your District Councillor, I sit on the Overview Committee at EDDC – which is part of the Council’s ‘scrutiny’ function, which reviews the decision-making activities of Cabinet.

At the first meeting of this year’s Overview Committee last Thursday, we as Commitee Members were asked what topics we would like to see come before the Committee for review prior to decisions being taken by Cabinet.

One of the options for this is the upcoming EDDC StreetScene Public Bin Review, which will look at how East Devon runs public bins – including collections – throughout the District.

Over the past several months, I’ve had a number of concerns raised with me – both by residents and by community groups like Whimple Cricket Club – regarding the availability of bins for dog poo disposal. As such, to ensure that these concerns are properly considered by EDDC, I have formally requested that a report on the Public Bin Review is brought before Overview Committee before any decisions are made by Cabinet.
